Five Cool Card Games for Game Night
Hanging by the fire harkens back to simpler, more intimate times. I know what you’re thinking. Intimacy? Simpler times? Yep—card games! There are plenty of styles of card games. Solo card games, group games, gambling games, discard games, and games where you build the best hands. Here are a list of five of our favorite games:
This great group game is super simple and super fun. Best for groups of 4-5, this game involves bluffing and lying, and not getting caught out. This can be energetic, exciting, and hilarious when played with friends, and the simplicity means anyone can learn almost instantly. See rules here.
2. Egyptian Ratscrew
This is a game where the goal is to collect the entire deck by having very fast reflexes. There are slap rules like slapjack, where you try to slap certain cards first after they’re played, but for all face cards, doubles, and other similar rules. See rules here.
An easy game for two or three players, and another game that's super exciting and yet super simple, this game consists of splitting a shuffled deck into an equal pile for each player and then dealing off the top. Whoever out of each hand gets the highest card wins the hand and collects the cards. The person who collects all cards wins. Best for small groups. See full rules here.
Called 'the ultimate social game' the goal of this game is to get rid of your cards first. Relatively simple in execution, and yet complicated in its permutations, this game is ridiculously fun and occasionally infamously unfair. Don't go without trying this game for groups of 4-6. See rules here.
Often known by a more vulgar name, this game is also great for groups and repeat-play. It involves trying to get rid of all your cards, with a level of unknown and chance in the last moments, giving the game often unexpected climaxes. See full rules here.
