  • 1968 - FIRST FIRE LOG CREATED
    The duraflame® firelog was created after a multi-year R&D project by California Cedar Products Company (CCPC) in Stockton, California.  At the time, California Cedar Products was the largest manufacturer in the western world of wood slats for pencils, with daily production of enough wood to make 4 million pencils per day.  The company was looking for ways to recycle the sawdust from its wood manufacturing operations, and found it could be blended with petroleum wax to create a mixture that could be extruded to make a new type of fireplace log.

  • 1972 - Duraflame® BRAND FIRE LOGS INTRODUCED TO THE MARKET

    The duraflame® firelog quickly revolutionized what people burned in their fireplaces.  The firewood alternative struck a cord with consumers with its convenience and cleaner burning benefits compared to firewood.

  • 1986 - Duraflame, INC. ESTABLISHED AS AN INDEPENDENT CORPORATION
    Rising firelog sales sparked the inception of firelog industry and the formation of Duraflame, Inc. as an independent corporation.  Today the firelog industry generates $250 million in retail sales annually.

  • 1990s - DURAFLAME® LEADS INDUSTRY EFFORT TO ESTABLISH UL SAFETY STANDARDS FOR FIRE LOGS

    Duraflame initiates communications and government relations program to promote low emissions benefits of firelogs.

  • 2000 - DURAFLAME® OPENS EASTERN FIRE LOG FACTORY IN SOMERSET, KY

    Duraflame® opens Eastern firelog factory in Somerset, KY to serve the growing market for firelogs and to improve logistic efficiencies.

  • 2004 - Duraflame® INTRODUCES FIRST ALL NATURAL, NON-PETROLEUM FIRE LOG TO THE MARKET

    Duraflame's mission to create an even more environmentally responsible firelog results in the first all natural manufactured firelog made from renewable resources.  The new product improved the carbon footprint of firelogs, minimized air quality impacts and provided consumers peace of mind that duraflame brand firelogs reduce the environmental impact of a cozy fire in the hearth.

  • 2005 – DURAFLAME® OFFERS NEW LINE OF UNIQUE CHARCOAL PRODUCTS

    Duraflame® extends the brand name to a new offering of charcoal products.  Competitive BBQ teams across the country praise duraflame Hardwood Lump and Briquets, citing long burns, consistent heat, and more flavorful results.

  • 2007 – DURAFLAME® INTRODUCES FIRELOGS MADE WITH 100% RENEWABLE RESOURCES

    Duraflame® continues to lead the industry in product innovation with a new patented natural formula, made from 100% renewable resources. The formula has been incorporated into a variety of duraflame® firelog and firestarter products, further minimizing consumers’ environmental impact by using 100% renewable resources.

  • 2008 – THE NEXT GENERATION OF FIRE
    Duraflame® introduces all natural Stax® Fire Logs, which look, stack and perform like real firewood, but are clean burning and use fewer resources than a typical wood fire.

  • 2010 – AN ONGOING TRADITION OF INNOVATION Duraflame® continues the tradition of innovation offering new products, such as duraflame® Gold Fire Logs and duraflame® stix firelighters, to enhance and improve the fire experience.

  • 2011 – A FIRE FOR ROASTING Duraflame® introduces Campfire Roasting Logs™ specially formulated for roasting and cooking. These logs stack and burn like wood for a robust fire that creates hot, glowing coals safe for roasting marshmallows, hot dogs or cooking other campfire foods.

  • 2012 – Zero Particle Emission Fire Duraflame® illuma® log sets and fire pits use a new generation of fireplace technology that burns liquid bio-ethanol in safe, no-pour illuma-fuel® canisters. The proprietary burner system and fuel canister allow for a safe, smokeless and illuminating indoor and outdoor fire experience.
